I remember this day with a lot of joy and also mixed feelings! Gilad Shalit was released on this day, in a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas. He had been held captive in Gaza for over five years. In return  Israel freed 1,027 Palestinian.

At 06:29 heard sirens in my apartment in Tel Aviv. Hamas launched a large-scale attack on Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people and taking around 259 hostages
